Accident

March 10, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I witnessed a car accident on Saturday. I’m still pretty shaken up, so I decided tht the best way to get over it would be to write.

I was with my mom and my two sister driving home from lunch. We were listening to the Hairspray soundtrack. We stopped at a light in the left turn lane. I was lookign straight ahead I happened to look ahead of me towards the left.

It was all so fast… A green motorcycle a white truck and a green car. I don’t even remember which one hit the motorcycle. There was a tremendous sound and wheel screeches were heard. The man riding the motorcycle was up in the air. He landed on the pavement and his limbs moved in awkward directions. It seemed surreal.

Everyone who was waiting at the street crossing was frozen. A man got off from his car and ran towards the injured man. There was a dead silence. Fearing the worst, I turned to my little sister and told her to cover her eyes. I didn’t want her seeing any blood. The man on the ground managed to lift his head, or at least it looked like he did. The man who had gotten out of his car was talking on the cell phone.

Slowly, the cars that were around started to move. My mom drove, her skin was abnormally white.  On the way back, all I could think about was that poor man. His body up in the air kept popping up in my mind. I just prayed he was all right, I hope he is. I don’t know him, but I feel as though he didn’t deserve it. I don’t know whose fault it was, and I really don’t care about that. The people inside the cars were all fine, but the motorcycle man… I just hope he’s all right. I prayed for him at night, I hadn’t prayed for months, until Saturday night.

Today, someone asked me why I was so jumpy. I told them I had just witness a car accident and the girl who sits next to me said, “that is so amazing! I’ve never seen an accident directly.” She made it feel like it was some sort of entertainment or amusement; that bothered me. But I din;t say anything, she wouldn’t understand.

Rachel’s Blue: 2008 Resolutions

new-years-resolutions.jpg

Keeping up with my New Year’s resolutions, the above is my first comic strip ever! I also decided to use more color pencils than markers, by the looks of it, I have a long way to go before I master the art of coloring using pencils. I also need to handle the pencil while I’m drafting a bit lighter. It was hard to erase the pencil after I inked the strip.

I’d like to name my new characters. The blue llama’s name is Rachel. What should the tiger and the girl be called?

Hope your resolutions are going as well as mine.
