The Three Nations: The Southern Green Noses

August 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Although there are many peoples that claim territory and are independent from other races, only three nations hold power in Agarithia. These nations are: the Jaden Kingdom, the Yellow Nation, and the Southern Green Noses.

The Southern Green Noses

Out of the three nations, the Southern Green Noses are the least united. Their way of life is very different from the other two. There is only one city in the Green Nose territory, it’s called Tet. Tet is located near the Golden Desert and acts as the entry and exit of trade caravans that trade with the Yellow Nation and the city of Oasis.

The Southern Green Noses are nomads. There are about 20 different clans in the Green Nose territory. They all share a close bond with nature and use nature as their guide in their journeys. There is a High Nose, their supreme leader who has the power to summon the clans together. The title is passed on through a contest held every decade. All clans meet for the Spring Festival in Tet to watch the rise of the new High Nose. In order to become High Nose, the candidate must show the highest physical, mental, and musical qualities. The Spring Festival is also when most inter clans weddings take place. Although they live under the same “nation” there is constant skirmishers between rival clans.

The Green Noses get their name from their pride in their nose. It is not know whether the are born with a green nose or whether the nose is tattooed green or painted green. Only the Green Noses know. They take so much pride in their noses that they guard their secret with envy. The Green Noses openly hate the Jaden Kingdom and have a close relationship with the Yellow Nation.

The Southern Green Noses are the only nation to be completely human. They are also unique in their fearlessness for the Wildlands. They are the only ones to openly trade with the Wildlands and explore them. This relationship with the Wildlands prevents the Jaden Kingdom from invading the Green Noses since the Jaden Kingdom fears the unknown.

The Green Noses have so symbol or emblem they put on their flags or shields. Each clan has its own symbol, but they all include a green nose.

The Three Nations: The Yellow Nation

Although there are many peoples that claim territory and are independent from other races, tonly three nations hold power in Agarithia. These nations are: the Jaden Kingdom, the Yellow Nation, and the Southern Green Noses.

The Yellow Nation

The Yellow Nation is located at the eastern edge of Agarithia. It is the only nation to have a direct access to the sea. Fishing is a bog trade in the Yellow Nation. Most fish goes to the nation itself but a portion is preserved for merchants to trade with the Jaden Kingdom. Other major trades in the Yellow Nation include agriculture, husbandry, and lumber.

The Yellow Nation is the most diverse of the three others. It is on of the few places where Eretis and Humans coexist peacefully. To ensure the equality of both races, the Nation is ruled by a group of representatives from each major city. This system was implemented a decade after the cleansing when Eretis who did not leave for the Jaden Kingdom demanded equality. Before this system was implemented, a monarchy was in place. At that time the Nation was known as the Yellow Kingdom, the name was changed to suit the new government. The royal family was exiled into the Wildlands after letters from them were found asking the Meekhrs to attack the Eretis in the Yellow Kingdom in exchange for military aid.

For over a century before the Cleansing, the Elves ruled over all of Agarithia. However, the Elven rule was most concentrated in what is now the Yellow Nation. The Elves preferred this territory for its relatively flat surface and its closeness to the sea. There are many abandoned temples and ruined castles tht were built by the Elves in honor of their gods and rulers.

The Yellow Nation has a very small armed force. It is seldom used and when it is used, it is to help areas affected by storms or hurricanes. The Nation is neutral towards the Jaden Kingdom. The Jaden Emperor insists in uniting the two nations so that all the Eretis can live together under one flag.

The Yellow Nation has a simple symbol. It is the picture of a dark fish. The fish holds an ax on one fin and a tongue of fire in the other. The fish represents the close bond the Nation has with the ocean. The ax represents the human population, while the fire represents the Eretis.

The Three Nations: The Jaden Kingdom

Although there are many peoples that claim territory and are independent from other races, tonly three nations hold power in Agarithia. These nations are: the Jaden Kingdom, the Yellow Nation, and the Southern Green Noses.

The Jaden Kingdom

the Jaden Kingdom was formed as a refuge for Elves and Eretis during the Cleansing. The Cleansing was a war that lasted a decade between humans and Elves. The Eretis are the hybrids of these two races. Eretis inherited the Elves’ power to perform and control magic. At the end of the Cleansing, no Elf was alive in Agarithia. Some believe that the survivors, if any, fled to the Wildlands. A large group of Eretis flocked west, to the Jaden Mountains, where they established their kingdom.

The Jaden Kindgom controls Agarithia’s supply of Jade. Jade mines are found all over the mountains. Other trades in the Jaden Kingdom include lumber, and agriculture.  This kingdom’s water source is the Gem Lake, located at the foot of the Jaden Mountains.

The Jaden Kingdom has the largest and most powerful army in Agarithia. In the centuries that date from  the Cleansing until now, the Jaden Army has only been used to quell rebellions in Meekhrshun. No act of war has been waged against another Nation. Smaller tribes and people have been brought under control of the Jaden Emperor, but their tragedies are soon forgotten.

The symbol of the Jaden Kingdom is reflective of the kingdom’s origin and past. The symbol depicts a bear with the head of a phoenix. The bear is the traditional symbol given to the humans while the phoenix was used to denominate the Elves. The symbol clearly indicates the Jaden Kingdom’s unique heritage. The creature holds a sword with a golden handle in its right paw, a symbol of power and wealth. It’s back is covered with rhombuses, the symbol of stars which represents the kingdom’s belief in destiny. Above the creature’s head are roots from a plant, representing wisdom and tradition.
